I'm going to...

I'm going to Chicago!  This will be my second time to visit and I couldn't be more excited.  In my opinion, Chicago is a very under appreciated city.  Lake Michigan, the buildings, amazing shopping, delicious food, art museums...ahh!

Somewhere I'm looking very forward to visiting while I'm there is the Art Institute of Chicago.  I wasn't able to make it there last time, so I plan to make up for it on this trip (they have a special exhibit called Van Gogh's Bedrooms right now!!). Chicago has an amazing Anthropologie that I'm just itching to go back to, as well as a Helen Ficalora jewelry store (a favorite designer of mine).  Garrett's Popcorn gained a loyal customer three years ago--I can taste the mixture of caramel and cheesy popcorn now.  Breakfast at The Corner Bakery is a must as well!

This was a very brief post, but I'll be posting pictures from the city soon!

Everyday Jewelry

I thought I'd share some of my favorite everyday pieces of jewelry with you guys.  There will be a separate post for my everyday necklaces.  These are the things that I grab when I'm in a hurry or want to go a little casual and add a little something special.

6 January 2016 | Biltmore and Gatlinburg

Over the weekend, my family and I took a mini holiday to Asheville, North Carolina, and Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  Living so close to these cities made this an easy weekend trip for us.  While in Asheville, we visited the Biltmore Estate, an extravagant late 19th century mansion that is still decorated in its original manner.  I can't begin to tell you how grand this estate is, it's really something you have to see in person to fully appreciate.  Not only is the architecture of the house breathtaking, but the histories of the items inside as well as the technologies utilized within the home at the time are incredible.  After taking a tour at the house, we went back to Gatlinburg, had dinner with some family that lives in the area, and then made our way back to our hotel.  The next day, we spend time in Gatlinburg.  My boyfriend Josh and I hit some touristy locations, but they were still very fun.  After having breakfast with my family inside a cozy log cabin restaurant (which made me feel at home since I live in a cabin), went to the aquarium, took the chair lift to the top of the mountain (a scenic mistake that made a great story), had lunch, took the tram to go ice skating (I have a whole new respect for figure skaters), and visited a candy shop.
